Adventures at Co Co Sala, Chocolate Bar, Washington, DC

Every so often, I have the opportunity to travel back to Washington, DC for work. It gives me a chance to reconnect with some of the people I know who still live in the area: former roommates, crushes, hookups, etc. On my most recent trip, I was only there during the week and I'd like to thank my former roommate, Jessica, for taking the time out of her busy schedule to eat some chocolate with me. I thoroughly enjoyed our date.

Co Co Sala is a self-declared Chocolate Lounge and Boutique located near Ford's Theater and Metro Center in downtown Washington, DC. We visited on a Wednesday night for some post-dinner drinks and chocolatey desserts. The entrance is a little confusing as there are 2 doors that look the same, but only one allows you to enter. We walked into a cozy velvet room. Dark curtains hung from floor to ceiling giving the allure of some vampire's lair. We both felt right at home.  There were a few other tables with groups of 20-somethings, but we were escorted into another room to the right. This room was designed very similarly, but it contained the bar. There was one other couple in the room but they soon left and we had the place to ourselves.

Amidst our lively conversation, catching up on mutual friends and reminiscing about the past, we overindulged in chocolate. And I mean OVER. To the point where my heart was racing so fast, I didn't sleep that night. It was definitely worth it, but not something you could do on a weekly basis.

We ordered two dessert plates, pictured here, and a boozy hot chocolate. Unfortunately, their menu has changed and I can't tell you which platters we ordered, but they all sound delicious. Fair warning, you will drink a lot of water there so you could really skip the drink.

Overall, a pleasant experience with a good friend.
